Scenario: You are a technician on a service call. The system can be booted only from the Windows vista or windows 7 recovery environment emergency disc. Perform the following commands:
1. Connect an external hard disk to the system's USB port.
2. Create a folder called MyUser on the external hard disk.
3. Transfer the contents of a particular user's documents and pictures folders to an external hard disk.
Procedure: Boot the system with the recovery environment disc. Open the command prompt. The external hard disk id the next available drive letter. Determine which drive letter is being used for the external hard disk. determine which commands to use to create the folder and copy the files needed to the drive.
What I did: Since I did not have any windows recovery disk availble I did this demonstration using the command log.

I used the command 'xcopy' and typed: xcopy documents \*.* i: By typing that command in I was able to move my documents over to my flash drive. This is shown in the picture below.

Scenario: You are a technician on a service call. You need to check the status of hard disks and services. What is the procedure for this?
What i did: In order to check on the status of a hard disk i pulled up the start menu, left clicked the option 'computer' and then clicked 'manage'
This option led me to the screen pictured below.

I then clicked on storage.
I double clicked disk management and it brought me to this screen which presented me to all the hard disks and their partitions on this system.
